Sailor Made Box

Made of Mahogany with whalebone border, the top is inlaid with ivory and whalebone with quarter moons on the corners, diamonds and a compass rose in the middle. The front is inlaid with stars and a large pierced ivory escutcheon plate. American, c, 1850-1870
A quarter moon has been replaced and some minimal inlays
