Large Ship Builder’s Half Hull Model
The Flying Dragon was a Union ship of 1,127 tons built in 1853. She sank in a storm near Arch Rock, San Francisco Bay on the January 29th, 1862.
Hull built up with 19 lifts, alternating woods of mahogany and pine. Mounted on the original blue painted backboard with later gilded molding. The ship was built by Trufant & Drummond, in Bath, Maine in 1853.
