Assorted Vases Woven Over Glass
by Jan and Don Weir.
Husband and wife team Jan and Don Weir have been weaving together for over ten years and work exclusively for the Guild, weaving during their lengthy summer visit to the Island. Their baskets woven over glass are made in the traditional manner and have a light coat of polyurethane on the basket and as such, the baskets can be cleaned by a light rinsing of warm soapy water and then a thorough rinse and towel drying. Because the base is made of hardwood, care should be taken to avoid prolonged exposure to water. The glass insert is permanently fixed to the wooden base and so this basket can be filled with water to use for many decorative applications.
Large and Small Cylinder Basket Vase with Handle
by Robert Cosgray.
These vases make great use of a traditional form. Tall, cylindrical baskets with a glass liner and swing handle, each one stands beautifully on its own or with fresh flowers and greens. There are primarily two sizes (8h x 2diam and 11 ½h x 4diam) and they are all bottom weighted so as not to be too tippy. And don’t worry about washing- you can douse them with water and not worry about damaging them!
Prices start at $225.
