Not everyone has space for the traditional sized Nantucket baskets and sometimes we look for a smaller memento of time spent on Nantucket or perhaps something to add to a collection of miniatures. Miniature Nantucket baskets are something one can always find a spot for and are an excellent testament to the talent of an artist and their ability to work at such an intricately detailed level, as they are some of the most difficult to craft. Using different forms and embellishments such as antique whalebone or ivory, artists such as Bill & Judy Sayle, Janet Carreau, Ashlie Emery, and Lucille LaRochelle have created some unbelievable little masterpieces.
Miniature Baskets
by Bill & Judy Sayle.
These little darlings are by Bill and Judy Sayle, incredibly talented and well-known Island weavers. All of their collectible baskets are meticulously hand crafted in perfect proportion and these certainly qualify with their tiny handles to the use of fine rattan and fine staves. Pictured here we have two types: a basic miniature oval basket as well as a miniature cobalt lined salt cellar, each available with basic oak swing-handle or embellished with an ivory overlay handle.
Prices start at $450.
