Narragansett Mermaid

The idea for this carving came from an antique example of an "Indian mermaid" weathervane that was much smaller and different in form. But the concept was intriguing and typical of the kind of creativity and exuberance that defines the very best of American folk art. Here, the artist combines several well known examples of early American mermaids and enlarges it to create a beautiful statement of power and grace.

Shadow Merganzers

This set is inspired by a collection of antique "silhouette" carvings that originated in Maine. They have been the most popular of Will's carvings because of the graceful form and coloration. The set is most often sold with a fish in the beak of the tallest bird (not shown in this photo). The four shadows are not attached and may be arranged in a variety of ways.

Nantucket Sleighride
